Living as an Ezzad
Whenever there is a newly designed t-shirt in the market, most people will be interested in the graphic printed on it. Well, the same goes with me. When it does not catch my eye, a thought will pop in my head, ‘What in the first place makes the designer design such a thing?’ Since I am pretty good at drawing, I was given the task to design layout for my class t-shirt in my school. It was the first time I had to design something and to my surprise it was hard to even come up with one simple design.
At that moment, I realized it is not an easy task to squeeze out ideas to satisfy the creative demands of society. What intrigues me the most is that a designer does not only have to come up with creative products, they must also know how to make it appealing and yet at the same time functional. How on earth a designer combine these entire puzzle together had captivated my curiosity.
Deep passion in art and design has amplified my sketching skill. It has been my main hobby since I can remember. My spare time since childhood has been filled with producing tonnes of artwork, ranging from striking free hand sketches, vandalizing my friends' tables, to the complex photo editing on Photoshop. Through my lens, there is always a place for expressing art. No words can describe my love and passion for art.
Plus, being a part of graphic designers and theme developer team for my school yearbook has accelerated my creative potential. The fact that we need to chase a tight deadline to complete all our work has given me beneficial experience on how to work competently and cope with all the pressure at work. These design related experiences have taught me on how to produce something that is unique and satisfying. At that point, I knew that my ideal career would be related to art and design.
Yet, deep interest in art does not obstruct me from being mesmerized with attention-grabbing facts in other science subjects. In fact, I am rather proficient on those subjects. This had propelled me to be one of the school representatives for mathematics and physics quiz, where I managed to obtain a distinction. So, I ended up having a difficulty in choosing from a wide variety of courses for my study since art and science are on opposite sides of the polar.
Then, architecture answered me. To me, architecture is the most scientific art and the most artistic science. Architecture let me integrate both my skills in art and my strength in science onto one platform. This has certainly burned my desire to take this challenging course.
Chances to blend my passion towards art in architecture blossoms as I further my study in A-level, where I took art and design along with mathematics, physics and other subjects. Masses of assignments made me deal with a lot of aspects, those that require out-of-the-box solutions in order to produce grand end results, which are unique in their characteristics.
Being sponsored by Malaysia Public Service Department trains me to maintain my academic excellent level, and juggling between academic and co-curricular activities has never been a problem for me. In fact, I find a sweet escape in sports, which is later, found to be as important as the education aspect. Being a school representative in cricket not only gave me room to break free from my daily schedule, but also gave me the chance to meet other people, which simultaneously enhance my social skills. Being chosen as a dorm captain at my school gave me the chance to explore my leadership skills. This experience taught me on how to manage a bunch of people with different personalities and somehow boost my communication skills as I work with them.
Altogether, these experiences have developed my abilities and formulated my desire to become an architect. Enriching experiences, vibrant cultures and top reputation of UK in educational area had convinced me that studying in your institution will be a definitive platform to fulfill my dream of becoming an architect.
